The First Phase : Chapter 6

The whole cloud felt like wet salty sea. Somehow it made me believe that we could definitely fly within the clouds. Life isn't that bad up here. Human called living beyond the sky as death. I wonder. After all, having an eternal life would make death seems meaningless.
Or there's more meaning to death than I would ever imagine.

"Young miss," called Veann, waking me up from my deep bright slumber.

Hmmm.. Why would I ever dream of bright stuff? I opened my eyes and the only light in my room was the candles by the corners. I glanced at the curtains and ordered the windows to be opened. Veann followed my instruction like a dog. The night breeze passed through my skin. It itches but at the same time more soothing than anything else.

"Miss, let's have you change," said Veann.

The night is felt cold. It had always been cold. That pathetic word created by human does not exist in my world. There's no such thing as 'warm' here.

"Veann, take me to the lake," I ordered.

Veann simply bowed and carried out the instruction. He took me by the hand and escorted me to the lake further out from the mansion but still within the compound. I stared at his cold hand and suddenly my whole body felt empty. As if swift wind passing through a hollow tree. It caught me off guard that the lowly servant had to notice.

"What is the matter, young miss?" he ask.

I made  no attempt to reply to his question.

With my sleeping gown still on me, I walked into the lake. As it always is, the lake is cold. It felt like electricity sweeping into my veins. But I ignored it and continued deeper. I sigh. What was I expecting? I looked up into the sky and see such irritating glittering stars that seems to be laughing at me. If, if I could just reach to it....
So there were things that even I can't do.

Veann was reminding me about my meal. Well, if there was anything different in this world, that would be our meal. It felt different that any other sensation I've felt before. But Kuran damn new rule is taking even those delicious meal from us. Although what he replaced with still felt different, it doesn't satisfy our dull cold throat that is itching for more every single second. If it was not for Father's warning, I would have taken his head off and burn him to eternal pain.

Veann took my hands as I walked out of the lake. He again escorted me to the dining hall as faithful as he should have been. On the way, he ask of the lake. I glared to ensure his mouth kept tight.

"The lake is cold................ right?" I ask.
Surprisingly, Veann smiled at this remark. He then replied a single "Yes".

The whole family was in the dining room, including hateful germs who snuck in like Kuran. Kuran was sitting on Father's chair. A position where leader sat. How spiteful. His two pathetic noble underling Hanabusa and Akatsuki. Though, the noble were just standing at the corner. I took my place just to hear Kuran snicker of disgust. It faintness was concealed even among the purebloods. But Kuran could never deceive my ears. It's more keen than any other of my kind.

"Took you so long, Aa-chan," he said with a fake made up smile, "I was begginning to be very impatient".
     That, was a warning.

Father and Mother immediately apologize on my behalf. As if I did anything wrong. He was in no position to order me. I mad no attempt to reply to him. Instead, I stared at the meal served. It had no scent of the usual meal. Darn, did Siena's plan discovered?

"Very much, girl," said Kuran,"Luckily I came today to observe how my faithful kin behaves toward my rule. I must thank Kuroli family for always carrying out my orders without fail. But I also discovered that the children of Kuroli does not share the same passion as I do"

You read my mind, I thought to challenge him. But Kuran shows no indication of hearing that voiceless thought.

So, from that day on, Siena's plan were not able to be carried out. We had to have out annoying tasteless meal every single day.

"Hey," I called to Veann one day, "why was the old meal taste felt very different than all other? It's lingering that it's annoying"
"Young miss," said Veann, "the meal was warm".
